Mr Dirk Eilers elected as President of Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC)
Singapore - Mr Dirk Eilers, President and CEO of TÜV SÜD Asia Pacific was elected as President of the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC) today at the SGC Annual General Meeeting 2009. In his function as President, he will represent the Chamber and chair the Board ro lay down the policies of the Chamber, fostering trade relations between Singapore & Germany.
"It is with great honour that I accept this opportunity to preside over an organisation that serves as an important bridge between Singapore and Germany, two strong and stable economies with exciting futures," says Mr Eilers at the election ceremony.
Dr Tim Philippi, Executive Director, SGC added, "Mr Eilers is the right person for this position given his many years of experience in Asia and efforts promoting German-Asia business partnership over the years." Mr Eilers came to Asia in 1995 when he was appointed CEO and President of TÜV SÜD Product Service Japan Ltd. in Tokyo. During his tenure in Japan, the sales turnover and employee count increased five-fold.
Mr Eilers was then appointed Vice President and Director for Medical and Health Service (MHS) of TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH in 2002 with worldwide responsibility. In May 2006, Mr. Eilers was appointed Group CEO of TÜV SÜD PSB and ASEAN. In this capacity he was responsible for managing the integration of two new TÜV SÜD Group members: TÜV SÜD PSB Corporation and TÜV SÜD PSB Certification. Under his leadership, these companies have increased year-on-year sales growth by 12%.
As CEO of TÜV SÜD Asia Pacific since January 2007, Mr Eilers is responsible for the management of more than 2800 employees in 16 countries across the region, supporting industries with the entire portfolio of technical services ranging from testing to training. |
